OK one thing you all should know about me is that I am an internet addict. Complete, total addict. I am constantly on here scouring for interesting things. I'm a mother. I don't get to go out and party with my friends. My fun and relaxation is sitting on the internet. The internet can take you anywhere! I go all over the world, to places I never imagined, see wonderful things.
OK I really am an addict. Only an addict could get that intense about the internet.
ANYWAYS, the point of this post is to introduce Tuesday Triumphs. As you all can see, I love the internet almost as much as my husband and my children. I wouldn't feel right if I had a blog that only concentrated on the dumb, stupid, idiotic things that I find. I want to take the time each week to highlight some of the wonderful things I find. These are the things that triumph over the immense stupidity in this world. Maybe they just make me laugh. Maybe it's something that is a good cause. Maybe it's just pretty. There are a lot of different things that catch my eye in a good way.
This week I want to talk about a couple of different things.
First of all I want to give a HUGE Triumph to March of Dimes, an organization that raises money for research and awareness regarding premature birth and birth defects. Their website, www.marchofdimes.com, is extremely helpful and informative. For this, I am going to put all humor aside. My youngest son was born 11 weeks premature. He weighed 2lb 8oz and was 13.5in long. He suffered a Grade II and Grade IV IVH (Intraventicular Hemmorage, bleeding in his brain) that caused a chronic neurological condition called Hydrocephalus (where his brain doesn't absorb fluid and he requires a shunt to drain the fluid for him.) He spent 61 days in the NICU and the March of Dimes NICU Family Support program did a lot to ease the pain of me and my family. It is an amazing program. November is Prematurity Awareness Month. Please visit the March of Dimes website to see what you can do. Also, visit me on November 17th when I blog about my baby as part of the bloggers unite.
Next, let's talk about something else that I love on the internet. Cake Wrecks. I absolutely cannot wait to get on and read this hilarious blog everyday. Not only does the author find some cakes that I cannot believe people actually paid money for, her commentary makes it the kind of thing that makes you laugh so hard you get out of breath. Check it out www.cakewrecks.blogspot.com
Well, until tomorrow, I will be on the lookout for stupidity to bring to you. Be on the lookout too, and leave my a comment about what dumb things you have found on the internet. I'll do a little research, and maybe post a blog about it. You never know.

Today's Lesson: Pay attention to your kids!
I found this on the website for our local newspaper.
Lesson #1: Parents need to pay attention to what their 16 year old daughter is doing.
WOMAN STABBED: A Battle Creek girl, 16, told Battle Creek police she was stabbed by three or four people outside a bar in the 500 block of East Michigan Ave. The girl said she had been at a party and was leaving about 1:30 a.m. when someone called her a name and several people began to argue with her. They began to fight, she said, and she was knocked to the ground and cut once and stabbed once in the side. She told police she didn't know the people who attacked her.

What, exactly, was a 16 year old girl doing standing outside of a bar in the middle of the night? Didn't she have school the next day? Shouldn't her parents have been wondering where she was at or what she was doing? The stupidity of parents is a direct link to the delinquency of children and teenagers today. Look at our crime rates!
Lesson #2: If you don't want the responsibility of being a parent, don't have children!

Today's Lesson: Pick your heroes wisely.
Apparently, Ryan Seacrest has a stalker. A pretty violent, scary stalker. Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr is facing four years in prison if he is convicted on this stalking charge. Which brings us to:
Lesson #1: Don't repeat a crime that you are still being punished for.
The stupidest thing about this is, this man was already on probation for misdemeanor charges he picked up when he attacked one of Seacrests' bodyguards in Orange County.
Lesson #2: Don't believe that just because they wear a uniform, they are stable and strong.
He is also a sergeant in the in the U.S. Army Reserves and serves as a combat medic. He joined the Army National Guard in 2005, was honorably discharged earlier this year and then joined the Reserves in August.

Now, let me explain how stupid I really find this. Ryan Seacrest? Come on, why would he decide to violently stalk RYAN SEACREST? I heard it mentioned that Ryan Seacrest had a stalker and I just knew it had to be a woman in her mid to late twenties who was pissed that he surpassed Carson Daly as the hottest TV personality ever. Not that he's even all that hot, in my opinion. Come on, what could be so entralling about him that this man was this obsessed with stalking him? He's not even good at anything really! He doesn't have a real title, he's just a "Television Personality", which really means he doesn't know how to sing or act but wanted to be in the limelight somehow and his good looks got him something. He hosts American Idol. His stalker could have been an idol for Americans all over the country, should have been after the time he spent in our military, but he threw away his honor and respect over RYAN SEACREST. Which leads me to the biggest lesson to be learned from this:
Never underestimate how compelling those teenybopper, television personalities can be.

So What is this all about?
There are stupid people, stupid laws, stupid legislature, stupid celebrities, stupid everything nowadays. Everywhere I go I get smacked in the face with stupidity. I work with the general public at a casino and I've worked in a variety of places over the years. I read the news. I watch TV.
I'm a mother. I have two young boys. I was beginning to worry about them growing up in this world. I mean, come on, people like George W. Bush get elected President! But I have come to realize that it is much less troublesome to laugh at the stupid stuff. And always, always, make sure to pay attention to the lessons that can be learned from it.
